02 Abades

Tenerife

Abades is a leprosy station in Tenerife, built and never used. I followed the work here from the satellite dish: concrete slowly returning to the land, figures small against a cross-topped façade, the whole complex under a wide sky. My muses wear black, like mourners, and inhabit the ruin rather than pose against it. Wabi-sabi has always explained my love of what is broken and authentic. This series asks what it costs to leave a place standing empty — and what it means to claim it as a stage.

The full series is available to collectors and Patreon members.
